My favourite film is 'Passengers' not just for the 2 main characters, but that it covers the fact that complex real-world systems breakdown (often!) and that On Board Spares & Repairs facilities, let alone obsolescence issues, and save magical matter replicators/3Dprinters for Line Replacement units, would be required & the engineering involved to bring systems back to 100%

Btw that's why I think InterStellar Travel will never be achieved by any possible civilisations, we don't see any even probes despite SETI (I crunched many WU's as did colleagues, some used to some still do work at the local Jodrell Bank 76m famous Radio Telescope) sorry to burst Sci-Fi fans bubbles, despite the huge provisioning, distances, time required. Star Trek is responsible for many assumptions, immensly enjoyable but engineeringly impossible, we even got the engineering book of the series, great fun!

(Oh whilst I'm on my 'SoapBox' I think it likely, as per fellow Physics ManchesterUKUniversity Alumni Prof Cox, we are the only local Star system species in this MW galaxy at the moment, or maybe ever as per TIMC radio series on BBC the chances of us existing as this techno species is 10^24 whereas MW star Nos are 4x10^11 at most & our G2V type star is not that common.)

Personally I've studied with a number of Tibetan, Bhutanese Lamas & Rinpoches and a few British ones too, I've also studied Physics (read at University of Manchester) from around the same time 1976 until the present day plus some Psychology.

However money is my main motivation as with virtually all humans whether they know it say it or not!

You & I were born without any choice (unless you believe in Hindu, Buddhist, New Age notion of possible choosing parents for your next rebirth, reincarnation etc).

Our parents were either having a good time, trying to procreate, or some other scenario.

So there's the first conclusion that free will is a myth or even just an illusion.

Well you may think and say rubbish bit that too maybe just your knee jerk reaction that again was out of your control. However where do you consider is this you.

Examine where do you think you are; your brain, heart, just whole being.

No one is going to do you any favours and if they do then they have some hidden agenda behind that.
For women & men the drive is procreation of the DNA.
The drive to be and to stay alive is strong just in case the body can push out another replica of its DNA.

(1) the human species is very likely to go extinct before reaching a “posthuman” stage;

Our Simulverse may just be a project by an equivalent A level 'Artilect' student(s) who make small garden(s) and does not even know of the sufferings of the beings created within such experiments; for if the Universe is truly infinite then that is occurring somewhere, especially if euclidian space is infinite; maybe even here ;-)
One other thought is are you in control of your Mind, Thoughts & Emotions and would I still be typing & you reading this if the same initial conditions of our Universe were set equally again?
Are we just following the 'code' projected from a 2D hologram transmitted into this space (Holographic Universe).
